My FAV quote on Edie Sedgwick

“She is both the harbinger of celebrity culture and someone who stands entirely outside of it, an artist who painted life, bravely and spontaneously, with her own hand”
Quote from 'Girl on Fire', page 12

Edie may not be considered an artist in the classical sense, but the way she lived is proof that she was a true artist, and this quote is testament to this. Life was her canvas & her life decisions are were her strokes of paint.

Edie's Modern Day Warhol

I am absolutely DYING to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's new exhibit "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty"! McQueen was not only an amazing designer, what he created were more than just garments; every piece he created was a work of art! Now his top 100 pieces are on exhibit till July 31 at the Met; no fashion lover will want to miss this!
Edie appreciated the idea of pushing boundaries and creating a statement that was controversial, and that evoked extreme reactions in the audience.  This is a trait that both Alexander McQueen, and Andy Warhol possessed & eagerly exercised.
I keep going back to the idea of, "What if Edie were alive today?". And have come to the conclusion that if in fact Edie were living today, she would be caught up in the rapture of Alexander McQueen, and all that he stood for; he would be her modern day Warhol! A genius that paved the way for other artist alike, a true visionary & artist in his own right!

Edie

The first style icon to start this blog off with, would have to be Edie Sedgwick!  After watching “Factory Girl” I am completely captivated with her; her personality enchanted me, and her style dazzled me.
Edie’s influence, undoubtedly endures, and those who aspire to be hip, stylish, and carelessly vogue continue to look back to her.
